This script implements a simple seatbelt mechanic, where your character will put the seatbelt on when your car is stopped. Not waiting for them to put it on will result in increased damage from all crashes, plus disorientation if the crash was too hard. Even hard landings are now dangerous, so you better put that thing on.
There's no hotkey to put the seatbelt on, simply wait a second or two with your car stopped. Your character will put the seatbelt on by themselves, much like they do with helmets normally.
Why
Crashing without a seatbelt on makes you a pinball inside the car. All impacts make you slam into the steering wheel, doors, ceiling, etc. That's what this script aims to emulate.
Compatiblity
This script uses the ped config flag #32 to emulate seatbelts, much like other similar scripts seem to do. Enabling your seatbelt via Trainer or another Seatbelt mod should prevent damage too.

- Due to how the script works, players in heavier vehicles will receive less overall damage when crashing into other cars, and high-clearance vehicles won't be affected by hard landings.

problem detected!! I was with Franklin in the bike, I stopped to put my helmet and my game crashed
@Drkz -- That's what normally happens if you hit hard enough. Using this mod, or even the trainer's "Seatbelt" function prevents the player from being ejected in a crash.
@Eddlm -- Okay, this mod is sick. I really, really dig it. It's designed really well, and such a great supplemental experience for being such a "simple" mod.
@Eddim nice mod, but with a Hotkey it would be better like in GTAIV
Can anyone edit this thing to allow the seatbelt part without the stupid crash damage bullschitt? I just need a working seatbelt mod working on Scripthook, nothing else.

@Eddlm Thank you for another excellent mod, another 5* addition to GTA5! These kind of mods make me wonder why R* did not implement them (forcedly or giving players the choice to toggle on/off), so I am grateful for your work. I just raced a heavy vehicles Nascar-style race at the Vinewood Race Track, and this mod made the 20 laps of mayhem even harder than usual (without wearing my seatbelt, of course). Kudos!
@Eddlm, I can't believe I never rated this. It adds so much to the immersion. Love flying through the windshield when I'm in too much of a hurry to put on the belt.

Can you make the INI have more features and the ability to change keys?. Also you only get a blurry screen when getting into huge accidents with your seatbelt on Even max speed into walls. Is there a way you can add an option to still take damage from accidents when your seatbelt is on?. Even if it's like reduced damage and no animation?. Would greatly appreciate it!.
Just for reference: on my test, this mod seemed to collided with other mods that most seriously the GPS (guide map) at the bottom left disappeared - used with WoV and many other mods. This mod itself looks good and sometimes I do really need a seatbelt to avoid being thrown out of the vehicle. It would be better if fixed in the next update. :D

I mean, nice mod, but I recently installed this mod and had some issues with it. It will show me that my seatbelts are fastened constantly until I move the car. Then, when I had the slightest accident, even scratching a little bit, my health point will go down rapidly.
Reading the seatbelt.ini it says "If enabled, ducking while inside a vehicle will toggle the seatbelt on/off". I tried all buttons but it does not seem to toggle the seatbelt. Can you help me please?
Whenever I crash with this mod my vehicle camera will go crazy and I can’t stop it help?

But... If you have the franklin special ability you take a lot of damage while braking.
